The Hangang River, Korea’s representative civic and cultural space, is a natural site with diverse landscapes and ecosystems, and is also an important source of drinking water. However, unconscionable trash dumping along the river has always been mentioned as a chronic issue. As the number of visitors to Hangang Park is increasing due to the continued imposition of social distancing due to COVID-19, the amount of illegally dumped waste such as disposable delivery containers, food waste, and cigarette butts is also increasing.

The campaign touched the hearts of city people with Care Running and video messages to create a clean Hangang River that are shared with the Care for the Hangang River Crew, comprised of young adult Korean.

The project monitored waste in the Han River based on Yeouido, Banpo, Ttukseom, and Jamsil Hangang Park, steadily recorded illegal dumping patterns and points of improvement, and then delivered the Care Recording data to the Hangang Project Headquarters. Additionally, the campaign produced Care Crew episodes as social webtoons to share the current state of waste in the Han River. Citizens will gradually change through the passion of the Care Crew members who creatively suggest messages for change.
