" The Theme of the 18th SEFF(Seoul Eco Film Festival) in 2021 is ‘Eco Retro’ "

The Korea Green Foundation began preparing for the 18^thSeoul Eco Film Festival (SEFF) to be held this June.

The 18^thSEFF, which will be held from June 3 to 9 in time with World Environment Day, will present films that address a wide range of environmental issues such as:▲latest environmental issues in 2021▲ climate crisis diagnosis and solutions▲ species diversity, ecosystem, and the destruction of nature▲ animal rights including wildlife▲ human rights issues including climate refugees and minorities.

SEFF has been holding international and domestic competitions among other non-competitive sections. This year, 316 feature films and 2,361 short films (total 2,677 films) were submitted. The slight decrease in the number of submissions compared to last year indicates the impact of COVID-19 on the overall film industry and production. Submitted films will be selected as finalists in the International and Korean Competition sections after preliminary evaluation.

Various side events are also prepared in addition to the screening of the film screenings. Under the slogan “Eco Retro,” SEFF plans to introduce contents that reflect today's environment with movies in the era of pandemic and climate crisis.

Based on its success last year, SEFF plans to prepare the festival that many people can safely enjoy the events at on/off-line platforms. Details will be announced at the official press conference of the 18^th SEFF in May and will be found on the festival's official website later.
